The B1 Preliminary for Schools examination is structured into four distinct modules: Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. Each section focuses on real-life communication tasks. In Reading, test-takers answer six parts within forty-five minutes. The Writing module requires two tasks in the same duration. Together, these two modules form a solid base for checking understanding and written expression.
The Listening section includes four parts, lasting about thirty minutes. The Speaking section is done with two examiners and a partner, taking around twelve minutes. Crucially, every module holds an equal weighting of twenty-five percentage points toward the overall outcome.
